My process channels real illusions. I see my paintings as canvas-shaped Tombstones, reading; “Here lies the remnants of energies that have passed through me, and now rest as the colors, stains, and textures of what was a sincere internal dance”. The symbols within my art are real metaphysical events that took place and solidified into artifacts of observation after I surrendered to their unique demands. Any medium necessary can be used to release and witness the nature of these energies, I then contrast them with the external world to further unpack the less outwardly visible, yet authentic aspects of my experience expressions.

For the metaphysical nature of life to translate through the mirage of art, “exaggeration” is necessary. To get even vaguely close to illustrating the multi-sensory nature of experience, “Realism” can’t fully be trusted, For Realism is not purely real, and surrealism is hardly surreal when confronting the depths of experience. Carl Gustav Jung took surrealism to a form of maturity with which I resonate. Not purely admiring the weight of the subconscious but further analyzing, and attempting to get closer to what it radiates, exploring the connotations he has with his own choices in the controlled sandbox of painting, and exploring the depths.

I currently live in Brooklyn, NY, being a child of two artists, I grew up in many places in the world and have experienced drastically different ways of living, but I predominantly spent my childhood in the rural outskirts of Malibu California. I have Afro-Bahamian and Polish-German roots, and on both sides of my family span artists and musicians, which sparked very early creative determinations. Many of my formative years were spent traveling, drawing in my sketchbook, and painting by the oceanside in Malibu and the small Caribbean Island of Exuma, and later attending Art Center College of Design and studying under Master Draftsmen such as Kent Williams, and Gary Meyer. Storytelling with art is a value partly sparked by the urge to communicate with clarity and nuance, and I honed this desire when studying traditional illustration. Being able to communicate with art is an alchemy that externalizes raw internal truths and shares them with an objective plane of observation, and allows me to steer my reality further towards the present experiences I wish to manifest.

besides all the spiritual things I love, I thank the internet for having access to so many notable influences. When painting I can’t ignore my impression of imaginative realists; Stanislav Szukalski, zdzisław beksiński, Boris Artzybasheff, and H.R Giger, for their atmosphere and articulate emotional weight. Other visionaries I admire are,  Alejandro Jodorowsky, William Blake, and Alex Grey. as well as the illustrative genius of so many more. Just to raddle a few off for the sake of respect; Robert Crumb, Moebius, Kim Jung Gi, Katsuhiro Otomo,  Masaaki Yuasa, Hirohiko Araki, and many more who don't directly relate to my works.

Besides “style” influence, the process of birthing new present realities from the seeds of thought is a richness I value about all these painters I listed, I find myself relating much of my creative endeavors with the teachings within Chaos Magic when it comes to using art as a tool for effectively manipulating reality and bleeding “fantasy”, whatever that is; Into a more tangible form.
